okay, this is gonna be long.
it's been a week since the typhoon haiyan happened in the philippines, and up until now, there are still people missing, people dying and starving because the government is too slow. so many countries already donated countless goods, medicines and money just to help the country but there seems to be no sign of change.
what irks me about this situation is that i see the people (i.e. media) so proud that other countries are helping the country get back on its feet, but what of those who had experienced the same distress? like japan, per se? how is it that they can get past such horrendous turn of events without a need of even the slightest penny from other countries? oh, wait, it's probably because their government is not fucked up.
the fact is, had the government spent money on building proper houses for the poor, providing the people's needs properly, making the country better, then maybe it wouldn't be as horrible a tragedy as it is now. it's such a shame to see how philippines depend on other countries because their own government can't even do anything right.
isn't it degrading how filipinos feel the need to ask for another countries' help because the government can't provide enough shelter and food for the people? i hear excuses like 'they weren't prepared' or 'of course, how else can philippines get back on its feet without another country's help?'
well, that's the point! they weren't prepared, because they were too busy looting all the money for themselves rather than trying to improve the country and help its people.
there's also this news going around about a newscaster talking crap about a certain news anchor, and to be honest, what the fuck? he's out there helping the people, on the fucking field, and you say shit? be thankful his country's helping yours rather than speaking bullshit and ruining your image.
all i'm saying is, how can we promote patriotism when the country we call our home, is getting even more fucked up by the minute and ruining itself? it's so sad how it's come to this. what a waste.
